Adventure, History Paratroopers, Military

30 Years Later

30 years later our joint operation sign remains thanks to Volker Strehblow (seen in picture pretending to be busy). Air force personnel on the first floor, and Army. Myself only active duty military along with 6 civilian counterparts upstairs in dispatch. Memories of VIP’s of various branches flew into and landed here.

Reaching Out

I was surprised to receive a gift from a former Military Police Soldier from my First Unit; 118th MP Co. Airborne and Friend: Bruce Litiza.  He claims to be breezing through my books and I was taken back when he said these things to me; ” You did great“,  “knowing you – you can only do proud“, and “Love the story on door position on your second jump“.

Thanks Bruce for the miniature company Guidon (Cross Pistols).  I see who loves the camera!

Polaroid

Bob

I received a throw-back polaroid picture today in the mail from a former soldier Robert (Bob) Cornish from my first unit with the 118th MP Co (ABN).  As you can see it is dated from 1980 and depicts the female paratroopers that were currently stationed in my unit in the foreground.

Top row left to right:  Janice Berkheimmer (Supply),  Dee Dee (Cook) and a new arrival.  Bottom row:  myself (MP),  another newly arrived soldier and Debra Olding (MP).

Thank you so much Bob for holding on to this memory.  Airborne!
