History Paratroopers, Military

Polaroid

Bob

I received a throw-back polaroid picture today in the mail from a former soldier Robert (Bob) Cornish from my first unit with the 118th MP Co (ABN).  As you can see it is dated from 1980 and depicts the female paratroopers that were currently stationed in my unit in the foreground.

Top row left to right:  Janice Berkheimmer (Supply),  Dee Dee (Cook) and a new arrival.  Bottom row:  myself (MP),  another newly arrived soldier and Debra Olding (MP).

Thank you so much Bob for holding on to this memory.  Airborne!

‘Burst Into Books’ Presentation

BURST INTO BOOKS is geared towards children from ages 6 months to 13 years old. Children will develop a love for literature through reading circles, book clubs and family centered events.
Once a month, four book clubs will meet that are grouped by age. Each group is led by an experienced educator that will help each child engage with the text through multiple ways.

  1. The founder, Jurema Gorham of BUTLER COLLEGE PREP has set one of her goals to help families best support their children as they strengthen their reading and comprehension skills through her school supported organized events.

Eating Healthy When Traveling

A rare find at a roadside market in Thailand Phuket… Mangosteen, also known as the purple mangosteen, a tropical fruit about the size of a tangerine, is rich in antioxidants and xanthones.  Mangosteen is popular in Thailand.  The powerful health benefits of the tropical fruit include its ability to fight cancer and boost heart health. Unique for its appearance and flavor, mangosteen is often revered as “the Queen” of tropical fruits.
